The Ark of the Covenant, the famous portable sanctuary mentioned in the Bible or depicted as a sought-after artifact in the film Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, is probably well known to everyone. But a pasta version of the Ark of the Covenant...

Many of you are probably wondering how I came up with the idea to create the Ark of the Covenant.
The idea itself dates back to the early days of my pasta creations and didn’t originate in my head, but in my husband’s, while working on the jewellery box „Grace“. Its golden color and the decorative trim inspired him with the thought of whether I could create the Ark of the Covenant for him. This idea captivated him so much that, on every special occasion, he would eagerly wait to see if he would receive „his ark“.

Everything in life takes time, and for certain things, we also need to „mature“. In 2021, I probably „matured“ enough to create it. The enticing idea of a longed-for birthday gift eventually led me not only to create the design for the pasta Ark of the Covenant but even to carve and construct the wooden base (after all, what kind of gift would it be if part of it had to be made by the recipient themselves?).
Creating the Ark of the Covenant took a lot of time, which was further shortened by the time my husband was home. In the end, I didn’t meet the deadline, but since the main structure was „pasta-formed“, there was something to congratulate. And there was joy, because this time, it was „his ark“.
At the end of the story, I must note that my rendition of the Ark of the Covenant also includes hidden sci-fi elements, as my husband enjoys watching the documentary Ancient Aliens. I'm curious if you can spot them :).
